Prestwold Hall stands in large grounds and was extensively remodelled in the 1840s.<\/p>\n<p>There were five nonconformists living here in 1676.<a title=\"\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Pam\/Documents\/new%20web%20pages\/Prestwold%20and%20Hoton.docx#_ftn1\">[1]<\/a> Three Baptists and two Quakers were noted within the parish (including Hoton and Cotes) in 1709 and 1712.<a title=\"\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Pam\/Documents\/new%20web%20pages\/Prestwold%20and%20Hoton.docx#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a> No nonconformity was noted in 1829 or 1851.<\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-family: Cambria; font-size: x-large;\">Hoton<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>The village of Hoton is around 15 miles north of Leicester, and 4 miles north-east of Loughborough, the nearest market town.<\/p>\n<p>There was one dissenter in 1676.<a title=\"\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Pam\/Documents\/new%20web%20pages\/Prestwold%20and%20Hoton.docx#_ftn3\">[3]<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Primitive Methodists<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Twenty Primitive Methodists met here for worship in 1829,<a title=\"\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/Pam\/Documents\/new%20web%20pages\/Prestwold%20and%20Hoton.docx#_ftn4\">[4]<\/a> but no return was made to the 1851 religious census.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wesleyan Methodists<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Wesleyan Methodists began meeting \u2018by the Loughborough and Nottingham Road\u2019 in about 1810, \u2018in lieu of another place in another place\u2019, in a chapel built exclusively for worship.
